چکیده
In this study, the manufacturability of new types steel-steel composites on an open-architecture laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) system is demonstrated. A hard martensitic stainless tool steel 440C and a soft austenitic 316L are combined in “multi-material” component with discrete continuous material gradients. Interface engineering accomplished through heat treatment to induce phase transformation. designed distribution carbides/carbonitrides local transformation lead controllable variations hardness. Hence, compositionally-graded converted into functionally-graded composite. The concept showcases potential for selectively properties additively manufactured composites.

INFLUENCE OF ADHESION AT STEEL/MORTAR INTERFACE ON CORROSION CHARACTERISTICS OF REINFORCING STEEL By
The mechanism of corrosion of reinforcing steel in concrete is discussed based on electrochemical and electron microscopy observations. The importance of calcium hydroxide precipitation on the steel surf ace in the steel/mortar interface is evaluated by placing filter paper around reinforcing steel bar specimens prior to casting in mortar, thus preventing direct contact between steel and mortar...
متن کاملStudy of the Microstructure and Cracking Mechanisms of Hastelloy X Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion
Hastelloy X (HX) is a Ni-based superalloy which suffers from high crack susceptibility during the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. In this work, the microstructure of as-built HX samples was rigorously investigated to understand the main mechanisms leading to crack formation. The microstructural features of as-built HX samples consisted of very fine dendrite architectures with dimensions...

The modern medical industry successfully utilizes Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) to manufacture complex custom implants. Ti6Al4V is one of the most commonly used biocompatible alloys. In surgery practice, infection at the bone-implant interface is one of the key reasons for implant failure. Therefore, advanced implants with biocompatibility and antibacterial properties are required. Modificatio...
متن کاملCompressibility of 304 Stainless Steel Powder Metallurgy Materials Reinforced with 304 Short Stainless Steel Fibers
Powder metallurgy (P/M) technique is usually used for manufacturing porous metal materials. However, some P/M materials are limitedly used in engineering for their performance deficiency. A novel 304 stainless steel P/M material was produced by a solid-state sintering of 304 stainless steel powders and 304 short stainless steel fibers, which were alternately laid in layers according to mass rat...
